Some of My Favorite Things . . .

I surround myself with verses and sayings that promote positive thinking. During a time in my adult life I was sure that I was the only one on this imperfect earth that had sadness and heart ache. But figured out how untrue and decided that I had to change my way thinking. Thus the reason why I live each day with the mantra - "Positive In, Positive Out".

If you have ever been in my home you see framed sayings, magnets and such things scattered around. One such saying is from Helen Keller. She felt things deeply from the heart. I love this saying.

My sister gave me this beautiful pendant- "God Bless My Sister", and I love it so much it hangs in one of the archways of my home so I can look at it each day and remember the warm feeling of love I had when she gave it to me.

I enjoyed a week in Sedona Arizona this year with my sisters, Bonnie, Ruth and Nancy. We gather as bojarunan every 2 years and learn, feel, and experiance from each other. We also give from our hearts. My sister Nancy gave each of us this beautiful cut hanging glass. She is personally aquainted with the artist who crafted the art piece and I have mine hanging in a place where the air from my heater or air conditioner blows to send the pieces of glass into musical sounds. In the spring/summer I hope that when I have my french doors open the crisp air will send the melodic sounds through my kitchen to my heart and soul.

With Valentines Day my heart felt the love from so many who send me cards, gifts and sweet messages of love. These are a few of those tokens. What a treat! I bought .75 cents worth of gummy hearts to treat myself for Valentine's Day not knowing that I was going to be showered with such love. It ended up being such a fun day!

She is a Survivor . . .She is my Hero!

My sister Nancy is an incredible woman! I was so excited as a very young girl when Dad and Mom brought my new little sister home from the hospital. I was a big sister 2 times! Oh the excitement! Oh the adventures and fun we would have! I always admired my younger sister because she laughed easily, had no fear and had this mischievous twinkle in her eyes that made me wonder what was going on in her head - the mischievous side of her continues today.

Ruth, Janet, Nancy and Bonnie

Nancy brought her three sisters into a discovery of sisterhood in 2005, and every 2 years we gather as four sisters for a week of love, adventure and discovery. My younger sister, a woman with integrity and a zest for life introduced the importance of this retreat to her three sisters, Bonnie, Janet and Ruth's lives that will be cherished forever. And as we continue to meet as a sisterhood the love for one another strengthens.

In 2009 Nancy was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Her life journey took a different path - a path with new words like chemotherapy and radiation thrown in the mix, a path she walked with dignity, a little fear, some major bumps and valleys, but she came through at the end of the pathway a survivor! My sister Nancy is a cancer survivor!

Nancy - Sedona Arizona
Cancer does not define who my sister is because she is so much more than that. She is a mother, she is a wife, she is a woman successful and respected in her career, she is a daughter, she is a sister, she loves nature, she loves her dogs, she loves to laugh, she is passionate about her environment and she is passionate about her country and political views. She is my sister Nancy. She is my Hero.

Valentine's Day

What do I wish for Valentine's Day? A box of chocolate's, a quick note scribbled on a piece of paper from my kids telling me that I am still thier Valentine? A valentine signed by one of my grandkids with a conversation heart? The hope of a new love interest? I'm not sure. But I do know that I still believe in romance, flowers and the actions of expressing love and affection during this month of love. My parents have a love affair that is validation everyday that love is in the air, and that love does last - - even for 60 years!

So for today I will wish all who read this a very happy love filled Valentine's Day. Show and express your love to your mate, your significant other, your children, your pet, whatever . . . because John Lennon sang it best, "All we need is LOVE".
