Leap Year

Tomorrow is the 29th of February - A Leap Year!
I know Leap Year has NOTHING to do with frogs leaping (or sitting in a chair playing a banjo) but I thought I could be silly and post this little "ditty" about this day which rolls around every 4 years.  And I could insert my little frog friends because they leap (or play banjos) every year (and I think they are dang cute!)

In Mom's newspaper this morning there was an article about Leap Year as it comes this year on the 29th of February.  It stated that it is a magical day, that all sorts of things can happen. It is much better than daylight savings time where we only get an hour - instead we get a whole day!

Did you know that many years ago in a country far far away it was tradition that a woman could ask a man to marry!

Did you know that people born on Leap Day are termed leaplings! (thus the pictures of my endearing little frogs.)

What are you going to do with your extra day tomorrow?
You could rent the chick flick "Leap Year".
You could play hookie and go skiing! (we just got some new snow today)
or - you could just treat it like any other day, but what is the fun in that?
It's a gift day - do something different!

Happy Valentine's Day

I have to re-think how I feel about Valentine's Day.  After being married for 23 years and in the "Love Connection" with my main squeeze - I found myself single.  Divorce forces you to re-think a lot of things and yes I went through the 'anger' stages of being and living single.

 BUT!
Time and distance and the recovery of
ones self esteem and self worth
does repair and life does go on.
I AM WOMAN - HEAR ME ROAR!
I am me and I am OK!

This morning I found myself drawing a heart in the water beads on the shower door and reflected upon the example of my parents.  They lived their lives in true harmony and in perfect love.  And as I thought of that in those few moments in the shower this morning I felt happy!  I smiled and decided to embrace the day!

I thought of my sweet children and the fun memories of Valentine Day's gone by - what fun we had!  And now I have 3 incredible grand children!  I'm going to leave their valentines the old fashioned way - drop them at the door, ring the doorbell and dash!  I'm not sure kids now days do it that way, but I'm going to give it a try.  This should be fun!  And I sure had a blast surprising my Mom with her Valentine - totally unexpected.  She was smiling when I left for work!  She received a sweet treat from her niece in California, some sugar cookies from her dear friend and a joint effort gift from her nephew who also lives in California and myself.  We both received Valentines from Oregon, and there was a Marshmallow Heart treat hanging from the mailbox this morning.  The day is full of L.O.V.E.!

So I wish all who tune in here to see what
my musings for the day might be
A Happy Valentine's Day .
I Love You!

Love One Another

I was organizing some pictures today and came upon this one that my sister Ruth took in September 2011 at our bojarunan planning meeting we held at Lakeside Resort.

Fog Roll in Florida

These pictures were taken by helicopter pilot JR Hott in Panama City Beach, Florida on February 5th, 2012.  He was giving a tour when he saw this phenomenon and shot the photo.  Absolutely incredible!

Check out that beautiful green ocean!
I have never been to Florida but these photo's sure make it look inviting!

The beach is just a full line of hotels and condo's!
And then this photo by JR Hott makes it look kind of eerie!

Spring Cleaned!

My brother Terry and his family gave my Mom the best gift for Christmas!  He arranged for Merry Maids to come and do a deep clean of Mom's home.  Well, today was that day.  She was a little nervous because to make it easy for them to do their work you leave the home and they go to work.

So I took the day off work because Mom had a Dr. appointment and some errands to do.  We had such a fun day!  We left when the gals came and 2 hours later we came back to a sparkling clean house that smelled so deliciously clean!

The blinds were clean, the mop boards, the tile, the bathrooms were spotless!  The ceiling fan blades were dust free - EVERYTHING was wonderful!  Thank you Terry for such a wonderful gift!  Mom was so pleased!  And Thank You Merry Maids for a job well done!  It is true - Relax, It's Done!

A Chuckle for your Day

I just took a leaflet out of my mailbox informing me that
I can have Sex at 78

I'm so HAPPY, because I live at 71, so
its not to far to walk home afterwards.
