A Pink Rose

Each morning, Monday through Friday I get to the Holladay Lions Club at approx 5:20 am for water aerobics and swimming.  Then My Mom shows up at about 6:15 after she drops Dad off on one of his many designated walking trails and after walking his 3 miles he comes into the pool as well.

Several mornings this spring and summer as I leave after my morning routine (I leave first to get to work on time) I walk out to my car and on my windshield I will often find a note, a flower and this morning there was this perfect pink rose.

Isn't that the best way to start your morning!
A loving gift as simple as a little pink rose.

My Mom has a Garden

My Mom has a beautiful garden and she tends her flowers and garden tenderly.  I often find her out pinching of deadheads, cultivating the ground or just enjoying the colors and beautiful flowers.

 Hollyhocks
Mom fills every spot with color, or a small pathway, bird feeders, anything to bring beauty to one who may walk through her gardens.

 Walkway to back patio
The aroma of different flowers is pleasant to your senses.

Marcine Price watering her flower beds
On warm days the flower beds get an extra drink of water.  It has been so nice during our monsoon season, because late afternoon a rain storm burst forth with buckets of rain.

 Flower bed sprinkled with Cairns
If you get a chance this summer/fall take a walk through my mother's garden and enjoy the aroma's that will please your sense of smell, the colors that will please your eyes, it is B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L.

Park City - July 30, 2011

My Dad and my brother Scott try to get together each year for a photo shoot of someplace interesting and where they can take pictures of interesting subjects and scenery.  This year they chose Park City, Utah, it is close and there is always something interesting to photograph.  While the "guys" were off traipsing along the hills and fields and streets of Park City, Mom and I walked the old Main Street.

The "famous" photographers - Elden and Scott Price

Dad and Scott always have a wonderful time together and today was no different.  If you would like to take a peek of some of Scott's photo's you can visit him on facebook, under Scott Price.

Old Town Park City - Photo by Scott Price, July 30, 2011

Scott took the photo above.  Love the colors!  The houses along the hills of Park City are so colorful and they are all squeezed into the tiniest spots.  It is a sight to see.  Mom was telling me how there used to be an old "China Bridge" they used to walk along to get from one hill to the next.  Sounds interesting, but Mom said as a young girl it was a bit scary to walk along the bridge and feel is sway back and forth.

Marcine C. Price - Marsack (sp?) School in distance

My Mom went to the school you see behind her.  It is now the city buildings for Park City.  We also visited the old Blue Church where Mom was baptised, and it is now a lodge.  As we walked along Main Street Mom found the door to the dance studio where she learned to tap dance.  She said her teacher was so nice.  Mom loved those lessons.

Park City Street with flower basket - Monument of Park City Miner

The streets were pretty quiet when we got there, but it was fun to watch them come alive as people began to wake up on this Saturday morning and come out for breakfast, coffee and a little site seeing.  I loved how the streets were lined with these beautiful flower baskets, and the smell was wonderful!  The monument in the background was to honor all the miners who worked the mines in old days gone by.

"Loosey" the Moose was quite the attraction!

Mom and I found this very comfortable bench in the shade to "people watch", and it just happen to be right by our friend above.  Many families came by and wanted pictures with "Loosey", so I took those photo's for them.  It was fun!

Marcine C. Price - War Veterans Memorial Building/Park City, Utah

Mom and her sister used to sing in this building.  The women's auxiliary group would meet and they would have a luncheon and entertainment.  Mom and her sister happen to be that talent one day and they sang two songs, the women LOVED their voices and harmonizing, so they clapped and asked for an encore.  Mom told them that they only knew those two songs, so they asked that they sing them again.  Mom was only about 7 or 8 at the time.

They used to go roller skating in this building and they even had a bowling alley at one time.  At the Egyptian theatre down the street they went to the "cinema", (they didn't call them the movies in those days") and the cost was 12 cents.

We had such a fun day!  We met up with Scott's wife Marla, had lunch together and then we all went home happy.  I look forward to the next photo shoot and I hope I get invited!
